Default Hd Dvr

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but I just got my HD DVR and was wondering if there was a way to transfer the movies to my comp. I want to build a library of HD movies and shows. Any suggestions.

Thanks

Andy B

No, thats the Scientific Atlanta model. Tivo can be downloaded to your PC if the show/movie is not blocked by the provider, there may be a few other DVR that can be hacked, far as I know the SA 8300 isn't easy to do unless you remove the harddrive (which will void warranties and service agreements You may end up having to buy it.IMO Don't risk it). You should be able to expand the DVR storage with a external drive, maybe that holds some possibilities.

Right now if you want to transfer a DVR recording or just about any HD sources the Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR
is the only game in town. Down side is I think they haven't yet fixed the audio glitch so it only makes recording with 2.o sound. Hauppauge has been promising a fix for the 5.1 sound for months.

I'm interested in that Hauppauge unit you mentioned, Doctor, but the Amazon description says that it will burn the data to a "blu-ray" dvdr, which is a killer for me (no blu playback right now). Is there another hd dvr out there that has these kind of specs but will let me burn to a dvd style format in hd?
