Default Electronic House names HD DVD Players as No. 1 worst product of 2008

This article came out today. I thought I would just post it as an FYI for you all.

You all know I am HD-DVD fan. Well, I have both formats, but still prefer HD players over Blu for various reasons.

I just thought the idea of this list was a little tacky. Almost like, hmmm... lets start off by saying it was JUST AS GOOD AS BLURAY, but they lost the format war, so picking it as number 1 is a no-brainer.

When the first sentence of an online publication's article has inappropriate grammar (What was Toshiba and Microsoft thinking?) it takes credibility away from the article and the publication.

And they couldn't even pick a solid reason, other than Toshiba throwing in the towel? Wow, way to back that one up.

let's see - a HD-A30 for $120 - a HD-A35 for $150 - a XBox360 HD-DVD drive for $40 - a Toshiba internal HD-DVD-ROM drive for $15 - plus 25 free high def movies on top of those prices - and a ton more titles for anywhere from $6 to $15. The worst product of 2008? I think not.

Here's an alternative - a Sony BD-300 blu-ray player selling for almost $500 around 1/1/08 - profile 1.0 with no way to update it. Now THAT'S a 2008 stinker in my book . . . hhhhdvd

Amen!! You are so right!! I include not only my HD-DVDs and my fine A-20, but, especially, my $300.00() X-A2!!

Electronic House has lost some respect from at least one person!

What a waste of time, the author never offers any information to persuade me to believe HD DVD was a bad investment. As a matter of fact HD DVD has been one of the best purchases I've made. I own 2 HD-A3s and an Xbox add-on, it was HD DVD that got me excited into high definition. I now own an excess of 55 hd dvds and continue to expand my library when possible.

I still use my Toshiba A20 player to watch standard def movies/TV shows becuase I think it does better upconverting than my PS3 and Panny BD-30. I would buy a Toshiba blu-ray player without hesitation if they would ever make one (not bloody likely).

My guess is they said that based on the format passing away and not really on the actual players...when the format war was going on HD DVD players won all kinds of awards. Either way Electronic House comes off looking foolish. They just lost credibility with me...
