Thumbs down CNET is bias against HD DVD players

Here's a clip from their recent review of the XA2.
http://reviews.cnet.com/Toshiba_HD_X...tag=prod.txt.1

Quote:
The good: Excellent image quality on HD DVDs and DVDs; solid soundtrack support, including Dolby TrueHD; much faster load times than its predecessor; HDMI 1.3; Ethernet jack to upgrade firmware.

The bad: Expensive; HD DVD could lose the format war; still some operational quirks; terrible remote.

The bottom line: The ongoing format war makes any HD DVD purchase a dicey proposition, but for early adopters willing to take the dive, the HD-XA2 is an excellent choice.
I wouldn't mind this phrasing so much...as long as it was included in the Blu-Ray player reviews. But it's not...in any of them.

http://reviews.cnet.com/Philips_BDP9...tag=prod.txt.7
http://reviews.cnet.com/Panasonic_DM...tag=prod.txt.8
http://reviews.cnet.com/Sony_PlaySta...tag=prod.txt.2

These, plus the previous issue with an editor commenting that HD DVD should concede, have convinced me.

They also said the oppo dv981 was a better upconverter than the xa2. Proof that they are smoking something that might have a little blu in it..........

I presume that Team HD DVD may not want to compare total HD DVD hardware sales to total Blu-ray hardware sales, which includes sales of PS3 units. But that would be cynical of me. For now let's just applaud the 100K figure, leave it at that, and wait for The Big Lebowski to come out on HD DVD next month. (There was something in the press release about The Complete Matrix Trilogy coming in May from Warner Home Video, but that's not "The One" I'm looking forward to).
I guarantee if this had been a Blu-Ray announcement it would have been another kiss-ass praise piece for Sony.
