Default Toshiba HD-A20 with $499 MSRP now

Toshiba America Consumer Products, L.L.C. ("Toshiba") announced today that its newest HD DVD player, the HD-A20, is now shipping to U.S. retailers. Priced at $499.99 (MSRP), the HD-A20 adds to Toshiba's second generation of HD DVD players and makes 1080p resolution available at an attractive price point.

The Player: With 1080p output capability, Toshiba's HD-A20 joins the existing Toshiba HD DVD line-up which includes the entry level HD-A2 and the top of the line, HD-XA2. This expanded line of products offers enhanced functionalities of the HD DVD format and is proof of Toshiba's commitment to the smooth transition to the next stage in high definition entertainment. Through an HDMI(TM) interface, DVD content can be upconverted to near HD picture quality. The HD-A2, HD-A20 and HD-XA2 are all backward compatible, so users can continue to enjoy their libraries of current DVD and CD software.
Amazon has it for $419.99. Gives you the full 1080P experience. Wonder how christmas is going to be this year

We got a nice little booklet from Toshiba today in the Circuit City where I work, and it included info on their HDTVs and their DVD/HD DVD players. There were brochures (spelling?) about their HD DVD players including the HD-A20. I checked to see if we got any in yet, and while our store doesn't have any in yet, our regional warehouse has over 600 of the HD-A20s in stock already, which tells me we should have them in store by the end of the week.

Also, the Toshiba packet had about 20 really cool pens with the Toshiba and HD DVD logos on them. Grabbed one for myself
