Default HD-A2 TrueHD too quiet

I just bought a Toshiba HD-A2 and hooked it to my XR57 with HDMI. The audio is set to auto in the A2 menu. Dolby TrueHD sounds really quiet and I noticed that when I play any other audio track on a HD DVD DD.DD+ (not truehd) I can only use my 5.1 set up not 6.1.
and DD,DD+ is louder than truehd.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

You need the newest firmware upgrade to use Dolby TrueHD, or else it will downscale it to a regular Dolby Digital track, which is worse than DD+. I have an Xbox 360 hooked up via optical, and it sounds much better than DD+

The instruction booklet talks about this. It says it plays at a lower volume, so you have to turn it up, but to be sure to turn it down before using other applications. It's not a defect.

I've not had any problems using TruHD through my Denon. The only disc to date that I have actually had to crank up was The Last Samurai and its not TruHD.

As for using audio channels above 5, I think most of the movies are encoded at 5.1. If your receiver has PLII capabilities, the rear signal can be sent to your surround back speakers.

I have a Denon 3806 AV receiver and the Toshiba HD-A2 and I agree the volume output is very low. It sounds great but I have to turn it up a lot higher than I normally listen to. I do have the latest 1.3 firmware upgrade.

Page 6 in the "precautions" area. It doesn't directly state TrueHD, but it's the closest I could find.
