Default Hd-d2?

I was in Costo the other day and saw a Toshiba HD-D2 which cost $449. Is that the same as an HD-A2? If so, why the name change?

The D2 is just a modified name for the A2 used by places like Walmart, Sam's Club, Costco, etc. It's the same deal with the A1, which was the D1 at Walmart. The D versions should be exactly the same spec. wise though.

Thanks.

Are the European versions (E1, E2, etc) exactly the same as well or just similar? Why the name changes?

Actually model numbers and series numbers are different at these discount places on MANY electronics. They use inferior hardware and in some cases have a seperate assembly line to send to Wal-Mart, etc. This is the case for the Apple iPod. Ever wonder why some stuff is cheaper at Wal-Mart. Look a the model numbers.
