Default 360 Add-On: Why (still) so spendy?

With the A2 / A3 at 100 bucks and the A30 for 150, why is the 360 add still 180 dollars at most places new and that's usually with no free movies except for the King Kong pack-in?

Toshiba controls the pricing of the standalones.

The 360 add-on is a Microsoft product so Microsoft controls pricing. Toshiba can give them incentives, but ultimately Microsoft decides what to do.

MS are just scammer for accessories. They charge more then 200$ for a freaking 120GB hard drive while on the PS3 any laptop hard drive can be used.

microsoft like any company selling game accessories for their console player is chincy and charge full price. Look at the games...

You wont see the price drop on those unless Toshiba bows out of the high def war and closes shop..

They could be free if they had the Toshiba name on them as a 3rd party, and were sold as slim drives (that fits in the 360's curve), which would be much nicer.

Buuuuttt.... then we'd and Toshiba would have the BDA on their/our asses saying that we're desperate.

Well, I bought mine 360 HD DVD drive for about 230 dollars in Sweden last summer. At the time, I thhought it was a good price. Then came the 5 movie offer... Now Im just waiting for the Toshiba HD-EP30 (is it the same as the A30, btw? They look alike.) to drop a bit.

Microsoft will adjust its price for the add on, b/c at the current price points of the Toshiba stand alones, its not worth buying the add on.
