Default Xbox 360 Add-on PC Uses

Not only does the add-on function to watch HD DVD movies (assuming you have the right player software) you can also use it as a regular CD/DVD ROM drive. Boot off it, or install an O/S from it. I'm using the drive right now to boot up on a mini laptop that has no built-in DVD drive. I thought I would give it a try, and it works!
BTW...DOS CD/DVD drivers don't seem to work on it Although I didnt try my universal CD/DVD DOS driver disk.

I just got one off eBay last week for a "happy price" to use with a PC, for playback and possibly eventually move content to a home media server. It just arrived today & I haven't set it up yet. But, I was researching over the weekend. This site has some really useful info, including "UDF 2.5 Reader for Windows XP" software so Win XP can read the content of HD DVD discs.

EDIT: Cool, that was fast & easy. Win XP detected the new hardware, downloaded the drivers from Win Update, installed the UDF 2.5 reader. I have Smallville Season 1, Disc 1 in the drive - it's only 19GB total space. Can copy files off the HD DVD. Now. I'm going to try some playback software.

I went with the add-on because of its potential use on the PC side. Only problem for me is that I have yet to find a Player App for Mac that can play HD DVDs.
