Default Onkyo HD DVD

All we ever talk about here are the Toshibas.

Has anyone bought the Onkyo, I don't even know if they are still available?

If you own one what do you think?

This unit has been pulled from the market and Onkyo will not make anymore. Whatever is out there is all there is. Im not sure if it hit North America shores, but at least in Europe it did.

I don't think it has been pulled from the market. It's still widely available in Germany and France. I wouldn't buy such a expensive unit however. It costs the double of the XA2 but isn't better than it (actually I heard that it's based on the XA2 but features a casing that thumbs down the noise of the cooler.)

Ill look for the article. It was based in Europe and it mentioned that Onkyo pulled them off the shelves and will not manufacture any more.

It has not been canceled, that was misreported a few months because a of bad translation of an Italian story.
It is available, however it is limited.
I did search a few weeks back and found at least 3 places in the US stocking the Onkyo HD.
Value Electronics is one, the others I can't recall.

(did a quick search)

$799? That had better include in-home setup by Mr. T.

 MR. T setting up your home Video I pity the fool!
On second thought he probably could used the work...
Mr T holding a HDMI cable "I don't know what this mambajamba does!! So I hooked it all up though cable!"
"Cable?"
Mr T "yeah foool! Like a VCR!"
"It doesn't have a cable connection!"
Mr T "It does now!"
Cut to Homeowner almost in tears surveying all of the pieces of broken electronics scattered on the floor.

Considering the XA2 is $599 - Onkyo's $799 isn't that bad. I'd like one or the other but not for those prices.

the Onkyo unit IS a rebadged XA2 and I have thought about trying to locate one also since the XA2's are so hard to find.
The XA2 debuted at $1000 I believe, so it's not surprising that this Onkyo costs what it does. It came out at $799 I believe.
