Default New A3 owner.

HEY REDS

Just got a A3 today.. yooohooo!
Nice pic, even at 1080i

I like it, its attractive, plays well, only issue I find, is that its somewhat slow to start and very slow to jump chapters.
I can live with that.

question.
I find the film qaulity very good at 720P does anyone else?
or do you all find it better at 1080i?

oh 2nd question

Any issues using component vs HDMI? I've run out of HDMI ports on my receiver and have to go to something else unless I switch my XBOX which is hdmi connected.

Thanks, and again, I"m happy with it gonna watch some movies I cant find on BD

Default no upconversion

you cannot upconvert SD DVDs over the components...HD DVDs play just fine...

Not even to 720?
My receiver upconverts, can that be used instead?

Use HDMI, the upscaler works great.

I have the A3 1080i and the A30 1080p and I can't really tell the difference. Great players and enjoy the A3. Have fun with HD DVD, it's a great format.

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

grab one of those and it solves all of your "lack of HDMI inputs" issues.

I do not understand this.. Starts slow thing people keep talking about. I bought my A3 last week..

from the time I press the power button to when I can put the DVD in is about 15 seconds, which is about the amount of time it takes me to go get my HD-DVD and pull it out and put it in.

As for loading the Hd DVD it also does not take that long, way under 10 seconds.. so again I have read people talking about the length of load time.. but I just do not see it. I love the sound I get from it.

A lot louder than my 360 ad on. (and does not make as much noise as the 360). Scared my GF the first time I turned it on lol.

I find it the same at 1080I or 720P, though my Tv's res is 720p so I keep it at that setting.

Long live HDDVD

I have it set to 1080i, and my tv maxes out at 1080i so no big deal. I'm thinking of buying another one as a backup unit.

Load time is fine..I don't have a problem with it.
I like it. Not 1080p, but allows me to play RED and have more movie options.

If you have a 1080P tv that de-interlaces the picture correctly, then the A3 is all you need as you will be watching your movies in true 1080P.

Just food for thought.
