Default A2/A3 and a Panny 720p LCD question

Hi all,

I just got a Panasonic 720p LCD (a TC32LX700) and am wondering what is the way to get the best picture.

- send the Panny a 1080i signal from the A2/A3 and have it downconvert

- send the Panny a 720p signal

- would the answer be different for HD DVD and SD sources

I believe.. an I am not expert but to get the best picture you should send it as close to your tv's natural resolution so in this case 720p.

Dugath, is correct but you should try both and see which looks better to you. It really shouldn't be a difference but it all depends on how your tv will convert the signal you send it.

I too have a 720p set (Samsung DLP). I studied the images from Happy Feet (a good test disk due to the details in the feathers and rocks) at both 720p and 1080i from my A3 and couldn't tell a difference. I ended up setting my A3 to 720p using the assumption that it is better to scale the image once rather than twice. (most HD DVD's are 1080p, so setting the player to 1080i will mean the player will have to interlace the signal and then the TV will have to downscale).
