Default A3 down scaling

Hello, just a question for the group. I'm the recent owner of an A3 and have it connected to a Samsung HL-S5086W (720p DLP) via HDMI. I've experimented between setting the player at 720p and 1080i and compared some video segments (I chose Happy Feet as a way to study for detail in the feathers and background). To be honest, I can't really see any difference. Does anyone else in the forum have this same hardware combo and if so what settings have you found to work best? My instinct tells me to set the player to 720p, since wouldn't the 1080i setting get processed twice? Most HD DVD's are 1080p, so the player would be converting it to 1080i and then the TV would downconvert it again to 720p...setting the player to 720p I should (I would think) allow the video to be processed only once.

You are on the button. First you should pick what you think looks best because that is most important. Secondly I like to pick the method with the least amount of processing, which is what you described. If you have any weird visual artifacting or anything then you can put it back to 1080i when necessary.
