Default Steering Committee Votes

40th Steering Committee Meeting vote on the logo mark for HD DVD-ROM 51GB : PASSED
http://www.dvdforum.org/sc-letter-voting-40-41.htm

What does this mean for future player compatability? Is everything tried and true, yet?

Also, the Steering Committee member election has gone through:

Hitachi, Ltd.
IBM Corporation
Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI)
Intel Corporation
LG Electronics Inc.
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.
Memory-Tech Corporation NEW
Microsoft Corporation
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation
NEC Corporation
Paramount Pictures Corporation NEW
PIONEER CORPORATION
SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD.
SANYO Electric Co., Ltd.
SHARP CORPORATION
SONY Corporation
Thomson
Toshiba Corporation
Walt Disney Pictures and Television
Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.

JVC/Victor and Philips lost their seat in the Committee, and was replaced by Memory-Tech and Paramount.

More than likely, Toshiba was re-elected as chair of the committee for the next two years.

More details will come in probably half a month. I hate waiting for these minutes.

Well, I don't know if it means anything about the compatibility of the 51G disc. But I would say that it's a good sign that Paramount is now in the steering committee

Haven't the slightest clue.

Once you're voted in, you're in the position for two years. So it's been four years (estimating the two years that will be up in two years) since I never knew.

I suppose Universal's just really comfortable with their format of choice.

Oh wait, I just realized that this is the steering committee for the DVD Forum, which is in charge of matters not just related to HD DVD.
