From what I understand no. You have to use to bookmark feature of the movie if available.

Yeah for some reason auto resume does not work with HD DVDs. I really wish they fix this, if possible, it is really annoying skipping through chapters again.

for dvds it works fine. for HD DVds unfortunately--no.
you could take advantage of bookmarking on the titles that have it. my question is---not WILL they fix this, but CAN they fix this. I don't know if anybody knows the answer. Would be nice.....

Also why when you play a DVD in the HD-A2 there is a logo showing that an action could not be done while playing an HD DVD movie there are not logo or error message on the screen ?

The resume feature is a feature of the disc and not the player. I guess they could add the feature to discs later on but for whatever they have decided to use the bookmark feature. It works basically the same way just with a few more steps which is annoying. Anyone know if they have resume on Blu-rays?

It seems to be an inherent problem with the HDi and BD-J based movies. I guess the program needs to load from scratch and there is no save state feature that I'm aware of for auto resume. Since the majority of HD DVD titles uses HDi for menus, it always needs to restart from the beginning.

I've notice a lot of the older Blu-ray movies able to auto resume. But from what I've read, it's because they are using similar script structure as DVD's. Although, I've noticed newer movies such as Spider-man and Pirates no longer can auto resume (I've hit the stop button instead of the pause once ), it looks like newer Sony and Disney movies are embracing Java.

Resume does not work on standard DVDs after a power off.
