Default HD-A3 and disc drive noise?

I just bought an A3 and have a quick question. Is it normal to be able to hear the disc spinning away inside the drive? I can only hear it if I'm really close to the player, but then I can hear a soft sort of "buzzing" along with the usual fan sound. I know this sounds like a very nit-picky question, but I just want to make sure the machine is OK. Thanks a bunch for any help.

turn the volume up on the movie.... Just kidding. I haven't heard a thing from my player and the last thing I'm going to do is try, I certainly don't need that running threw my head everytime I put in a disc. Also it's about 10+ feet away and I do crank the stereo.

I have not noticed any drive noise but thats probably because of the very noisy cable box sitting near it.

I seem to have the same problem...It bugs me a little bit so I just turn the volume up a bit so I cant hear it.

I think a small amount of noise would be normal but if it is loud enough to be heard during the movie then you might want to exchange it and be sure.

Personally, my TV is big enough that I have to sit far enough away that I can't hear any drive noise. I do hear drive noise when I'm in front of the player and putting in a disc, but not when I'm sitting on the couch.

I have the D3, but I think it's the same thing?

Anyway, no drive noise. I have heard a scary loading noise twice, but it only happened when playing standard DVDís.
