Exclamation HD-XA2 or HD-A35? HELP ME PLEASE

Hello everyone, I have a doubt about what device still with me the HD-XA2 or HD-A35. Recently I heard some good stuff from the HD-A35 but also for the HD-XA2 about the video upscaling to 1080p and some about better build it.

Two days ago I have been updated my HD-XA2 but last night a received my HD-A35 that still in the box, now I donīt know if still with my XA2 or replace it for the newest A35.

When I see both I can see differences about weight, construccion, quality materials but I donīt know if you have something about functionallity and technology.

I was reading a AVS review about A35 and they said that is so good or better but never said something between A35 and XA2.

What is your opinion?

I had an XA1 and upgraded to the A35 a few weeks ago. The main reason I upgraded was for the audio, the A35 can output TrueHD and DTS MA to an HDMI 1.3 receiver to decode the audio, which in my opinion is an improvement. Now with the latest software update, the XA2 can do that also.

The main difference between the XA2 and A35 is that the XA2 has the Reon video processor, which many professionals feel provides the best upconverting for standard DVD. I have not seen many people claim the Reon processor provides any better quality for HD DVD.

In your case, I don't think you will see any improvement with the A35 over your XA2. Since you already have the XA2, if you can return the A35 and get your money back, I would do that.

Hello

Some days ago I had also to decide between the XA2 and A35. I need a player that can output high def audio bitstream and 1080/24p. As I know the A35 produce a very good picture using 24p. The XA2 should have a little better picture using 1080p(60Hz), and a similar as the A35 at 24p. Because of the price and the new boardlayout I chose the A35.

I'd say go for the XA2. It has the ever so awesome Reon chip for up-converting of SD DVDs and remains Toshiba's flagship product.

I would still say go for the XA2. Overall it is a better machine than the A35.

Cheers.

Sorry but i thought the A35 only bitstreams the TrueHD track and NOT the DTS-HD MA track. Correct me if i am wrong of course.

I also want advice on this. I ordered the XA2 from Amazon for $479. Now the A35 is available with 3 extra free movies plus the 2 in the box. They both have the 5 mail-in rebate. The A35 is currently about $411. Should I refuse delivery on the XA2 and reorder an A35. I'm so confused. I am upgrading from an A2 and want the 24P and bitstream output since I just got a new Denon 3808 AVR.

I would still go with the XA2...to me you can't buy a player based on how many free movies it has. You have to buy it based on whether or not its the player that meats your needs. So short answer stick with XA2 if it was me but in the end it's your call. Good luck with your choice.
