Honestly, I am not trying to start something, but it really REALLY looks just like a rebranded Toshiba. Look at the remote, aside from the power button and silk-screening, it's identical to my A2 remote. And I love Onkyo stuff, I have an Onkyo receiver and DVD changer. Just sort of disappointed I guess, especially for $800.

This is apparently not even speculation. Toshiba made this player for Onkyo. I think they might just want to make it seem like the consumer has other options besides Toshiba.

Guess that explains it huh? Weird really, if you ask me. I would have thought more of Onkyo than this, but oh well.

So, what you are saying is that the Pioneer and Sony BD players are the same? Sorry but I don't understand your post.

The first gen Pioneer and Sony players were produced by Pioneer if memory serves. The Pioneer had a few differences such as a NIC since it was produced for a higher end crowd.

This is not an uncommon practice.

The A2 remote and the XA2 remote were different. The XA2 remote was a heavy remote compared to the light plastic one for the A2.

As for the Onkyo being an XA2 is not a bad thing. That player was very well made and got high remarks. Now with the XA2 officially discontinued this player will be the only one available with the HQV Reon chip.
