Default Toshiba HD-A2 is HD DVDs Trojan Horse

With an unbeatable price/performance (198.00 at Wal-Mart), the HD-A2 HD DVD player from Toshiba is single-handedly geting more people in the HD DVD camp than anything else out there.
Very good overall performance in key areas: image quality, audio, connections and support make this baby the 'you can't go wrong' option.
Combine this with the free movies offer and then again you simply won't go wrong.
After that, the HD DVDs at under 19.00 here in Amazon are sure to position HD DVD as the new standard.

lol the new standard

hddvd and bluray will both be around for many years
and so will sd-dvds

sales for high def discs are so small its laughable

until they stop making analog tvs and sd-dvd players sd-dvds will be king of the format war

he said HD-DVD will be the new standard because of the A2, not the A2 being the standard.

as a side note, i watch an old vhs the other day. it was weird. I can't believe I thought that used to look good. it made my eyes hurt from trying to see things

I've got a friend who was "jealous" of my new A2. When I told him it was under $200 now, he was taken aback -- didn't realize they had gotten so cheap. He wants to see mine in action first, but I'm pretty sure he'll buy one once he sees it. I think breaking the $200 barrier is the best thing that could've happened to HD-DVD.

Only plays 1080i, If you have a screen less than 60 inches you wouldn't see the difference. Also if you have a 1080p set it would display the 1080i as p anyway so you should really try to know the difference before posting this nonesense.

Mark my words: As much as HDM community is excited now how low A2 are priced incoming holiday season, it will be even more shocked how competitive will be priced A3s after retailers run out of A2 supplies. And those new prices we might even see for this christmas or close after it.
