Default Toshiba players now region free in Oz

There is a story on the internet, that certain Toshiba HD-DVD Players can now have a firmware flash done, to enable the playback of SD DVD from anywhere in the world.

It would appear to only work on machines made in Oz, but chances are it will hit europe soon and the US

The codefree FW update works great on my german XE1!

Just download the .iso, burn it to a CD and put it in the Player. 10 Minutes later it is codefree for DVDs.

I came from the official 2.5 FW, don't know if it works on older versions as well.

All the details can be found on AVS Forum in the HD DVD hardware section.
