Default What's more important: 1.3 HDMI or 7.1 audio?

My Denon 5803 7.1 receiver has no HDMI. I plan to run video to my plasma panel (which has 1.3 HDMI) using HDMI, and audio to the Denon using the DVD player's audio outputs so I can have the player do all the decoding. BUT, I can't find a player with both 1.3 HDMI and 7.1 audio outputs. So in this case, what's the more important feature? Should I go with a 5.1 audio player with 1.3 HDMI (and have no back channel input to the Denon), or go with a 7.1 output player with an older HDMI version, so I can get true 7.1 sound?

Thanks

Here's an article that explains whether HDMI 1.3 is really necessary:

Regarding 7.1 analog outputs, 99% of all Hollywood movies are mixed for 5.1, and there is no movement in the industry to expand beyond that except in limited cases.

I have to second Josh's statement. I have yet to see anything done in 7.1. I laugh at my friend who has 7.1 because he thinks his 7.1 is better than my 5.1 simply because its 7.1. He doesn't understand that the things he is listening to are encoded in 5.1 and the things his 6th and 7th speakers are putting out are simply mimicking what the rears are getting. I would much rather spend more money per speaker on a 5.1 than less money per speaker on a 7.1.
