I'm not sure of the question. But most HDMI cables should be able to display 1080p if your source/display allows it.

Yeah, I'm not sure I understood the question either. By "systems", I assume you mean hardware. Currently, there are no broadcasts in 1080p, via over-the-air, cable, or satellite. Broadcast are in either 720p or 1080i. The only hardware that outputs 1080p are Blu-ray or 2nd generation HD DVD players. Many displays (HDTV's) display 1080p, but few accept 1080p. Most accept up to 1080i and convert that to display 1080p. HP (the computer company) is one I know that makes displays that accept 1080p.

Hopefully that helps.

Default When referring to 1080p systems I was refering to HD DVD players.

Currently, I am set up with the Xbox HD-DVD player. I have a Samsung LNS-4095D HD TV.

With the Xbox HD-DVD I can hook up to my TV by using component or VGA cables. It is my understanding, component will only support up to 1080i.

When I utilize a VGA hook up I can receive 1080p. This is based on a recent Microsoft Xbox HD-DVD firmware download. However, when I utilize the VGA cable in the PC input channel it limits my firmware picture adjustments (sharp, color, tint, brightness, contrast) on the TV leaving me with only two of the picture adjustments. If I was hooking this TV up to a PC I probably could adjust the picture through the PC. However, I am utilizing a Xbox 360.

Are there any other alternate HD-DVD players that will display a 1080p picture.

The Toshiba A2 and XA2 allow for 1080p over HDMI.

I also have (and noticed the limitations of) the LNS4095D. I don't mind it too much but can understand if you do.

From what I know, the XA2 is the only 1080p w/HDMI player out right now. The A20 is due out this spring and will have what your looking for at a lower price.

The A2 does not have 1080p. I've heard rumors that there may be a firmware update in the future for the A2 that may allow 1080p (similar to the XBOX update?) but that is just rumor.

I don't know too much about what other manufacturers may have planned for later in 2007 (Onkyo, Sanyo, RCA, Alco, Shinco, a Samsung hybrid, etc.) While at least a few other players should be available later in the year, specs like whether they will be 1080p or not have not been released yet.

keep in mind too, even if your player does not output 1080p but ur tv accepts and deinterlaces your 1080i picture, and its a descent tv, you shouldnt see a difference. Just fyi.
