Default HD-A30 and Pioneer 84 Txsi

I have the Pioneer Elite receiver....with my Sony Blu-Ray and Directv DVR all is works fine via HDMI...I added this new HD-DVD player and the only audio I can get is PCM....is this correct? I have the Tosh unit set to HDMI Auto...

Any thoughts?

That series of pioneer will not decode the lossless audio formats. So whats best is to allow the HD DVD player to do the decoding for you and then send it out as Uncompressed PCM.

It's normal... the player decodes the audio tracks and sends the info to your receiver as PCM...

No your receiver is fine, do not worry about that. Decoding in the player and externally in another receiver gives out the same results. You are fine. Your receiver will do it all justice until it dies out in which you will have an excuse to go out and get a newer one.

Thanks...semi related question....can you think of any reason why only HDMI input #1 and #3 work...HDMI inputs 2 & 4..no video, no audio....this receiver has four HDMI inputs and one HDMI output....and as I said 1 & 3 are fine....any thoughts?

Thanks.
