the A2 and PS3 can only output PCM to the receiver. The PS3 may be capable of eventually passing the bitstream but the A2 will never be able to. I do not know what the settings are that the players must be set to. Likely bitstream or PCM. If your receiver says Multi Ch In you have it set correctly.

I have the same exact setup. For the A2 all you have to do is make sure it's connected via HDMI & make sure you select bit stream.

For the PS3 I was getting PCM Multi Chann unitl I added to more speakers today to make it a 7.1 system. Now that option is gone so I'm trying to figure out how to fix this.

Any way to get the receiver to show "TrueHD" on the display?

"Dolby TrueHD" unfortunately will never be displayed on your receiver because the audio is all decoded in your players and is converted to PCM Uncompressed to your receiver. Your receiver has no idea that this originated as Dolby TrueHD.

So is it only if the player "bitstreams" the audio then the TrueHD will light up? That would be the case for the 3rd gen players right?

I have set the ps3 to bitstream the dolby true track and it changes on the amp to 5.1 dd ex and displays only 5.1 at 48k on the ps3 display.
So i would think this is just taking the dd True track and reducing it down to the core .

Ive also played with the amp settings to have hdmi on and off but still nothing.

Like the above poster states if it says you have multi pcm out on the amp display your getting the correct sound.

You need to have the direct option on the amp otherwise the amp will add dsp modes to it and thats not right. (you can change your own dsp settings and the amp will light up the audiogy signal aswell)But loose the original track settings.

Clear as mud !!!!!!

Playing Transformers it sounded a little weak. DD+ is being used, Digital Bitstream is displayed on the A2 and Mult Ch is displayed on the 605. Is it supposed to be like that??
