Default HDCP Compatibility

I have an older HDTV. Well it's only about three years old but the way technology goes today....

Anyway, I just ordered an HD-2A from Amazon but it won't arrive for a few weeks. I have seen some posts here and on other forums redarding the HDCP protocol. I believe it was not made mandatory until August of 2004 (I bought my set in June).

My concern is that my HD DVD player will not upscale SD discs if it is not HDPC compatible.

Does anyone own a Sanyo HT30744? It is a 30" flatscreen that is sold by WalMart. If so, have you experienced any issues with your HD player (HDDVD or BD)?

I currently have a cable box connected via HDMI and have had no problems. I may be just worrying about nothing, but I really can't afford to buy a new TV right now and I will be VERY disapointed if my new player has compatibility issues with my current set.

The only way is test it out and see. From what I've been able to find out about your TV, it is HDCP compatible, but I did run across some reported HDMI handshake issues with upscaling DVD players. If it has a problem, just send it back to Amazon.
