Default Question about 360 add-on

I already have one but am considering ordering a new one for the 7 HD-DVDs (I'll sell the new Kong w/my old player). Now I have an elite. I know the add-on only does 1.5Mbps DTS via optical but can they ever update the player to at least give us any loseless audio (PCM or DDTHD I don't care) via the HDMI? This is pretty much my biggest hurdle right now as I'm saving up for a new reciever and I want my loseless audio. So it's either HD-AX2 (I'm praying for a price drop when the new 3rd gens hit the market in Oct) or just go with the deal to get 7 new HD-DVDs.

*Edit* Sorry if this question has been asked before

If you really notice a major difference between the DTS at 1.5 mbps and the lossless audio via HDMI, than go for the external player. But as far as future compatibility, I would assume that the 360 just needs a software update. The one problem might be that an update would be released for all xbox consoles, and as we know not all 360's are HDMI equipped. That's just my guess. But who knows, it may come with the next major update. So personally I would go with the 7 free deal.
