Default Question A2 VS A20 on XBR1

With The A2 output being 1080i and the A20 being 1080p would there be any reason to buy the A20 to use with my Sony KDS-R50XBR1 SXRD that inputs only 1080i.

I have heard different perspectives on 1080p going into 1080i on this TV and what it does with it...What's the truth? I own a PS3 already and now I want to get a HD player.

Is there any reason I should buy a A20 to use with this TV.

Thanks in advance.

Uh, not really. Unless you plan on getting a new TV somewhat soon, just go with the 1080I.. no point in getting 1080p if you're not gonna need it or get it.

I just bought my parents the 1080I model because they will never get a 1080p television. But I bought the 1080p model because I have it.. obviously lol.

Just go with the 100 buck less model.. unless for SURE you know you are going to get it..

The only big difference would be the SD playback quality. The A20 rivals high end DVD players(the only chip I've seen that is in the same league or better would be the Reon) while the A2 is mediocre.

I would get an HD DVD with 1080p. Unexpectantly, my TV crapped out, so I was forced to buy a new TV (out of warranty; parts cost were more than the worth of the old TV). It's nice to have the higher quality picture, in case you end up with a TV that can display it.

Thanks for the advice, But my mind was made up went I saw the A2 with 3 free movies in my Amazon cart for 218.00. Then I still can get another 5 in the mail rebate.

The ultimate for me would be a dual player that is 1080P loaded for under 5 bills.

I'll wait as I have many movies now in the other format. I went neutral.
