Default 2nd gen player or wait for 3rd gen??

Hello all, if today's recent news holds true, then i will be buying a hd dvd player very soon. I've been wanting one, but i always kinda figured blu-ray would win out in the end, but that's a different story. Anyways, should i go ahead and get the 2nd gen player with the 5 free movies offer or wait for the 3rd gen? I don't really know what the advantages of the newer ones are supposed to be. By the way, it'll probably be either the a20 or a30. Thanks alot.

that is a tough question, because we know very little about the actual performance of the gen 3 players.

I can tell you that the A20 is no slouch and i am very pleased with it for its HD playback, great toshiba software support, and its dvd upscaling

THanks for your input! I'm leaning towards the a20 because it's hard to turn down 7 free movies! I guess i could always upgrade in the future if there is some feature of the a30 that i feel that i need.

have they not released any specs on the a30 yet?

I'd say jump right in. From the specs I personally didnt see anything jump out at me that made me want to get a gen3.

When the 2nd gen players came out I heard things about the wait time for it to load and everything, but I find no problem with it. I have no problems with it.

The picture is great, the DVD upscaling is beautiful. I don't know what more I could ask for (probably inputs akin to the XA2, but I'll live).

The new A30 will launch sometime next month, while the A2 and the A35 will both launch in October. No official days have been said. So, you could just be better off with waiting until next month.

I'd have to wait for a review on the new A3 or A30 before I decided to give up the A2.

I woudn't trade a 2nd gen for a 3rd but if you haven't bought one yet I would wait. I think they look a little snazzier and they probably have some subtle improvements.
