Default Do I need DolbyTrueHD?

I recently purchased the Toshiba HD E1. It should be arriving next week. My question is this: My amp doesn't support HDMI audio and the Tosh only has optical out which will only carry normal Dolby digital. Is it worth getting the player just for theHD picture alone? Is Dolby true HD that much better?

TrueHD IS just that much better. The picture is a big upgrade over normal DVDs. So there is still a plus. Don't forget only select HDDVDs have TRUEHD. Too bad the E1 doesn't have analog outs, i believe its the same as the A2 here in the states. So if you want use of the newer audio codecs you're pretty much stuck on getting a new receiver or import a first gen HDDVD player.

I will have to wait. Only bought the amp 2 months ago. I am sure I will survive with normal DD for a while. The sound is still great at the mo as is the pic but I cant wait to see the proper HD content.

I say its better, but every receiver is different. DTS has always been my favorite movie sound mix. It just has better presence and the surround effects seem slightly better to me.

DTS-MA? problem is, All available players extract its core soundtracks only, so I'd recommend Dolby TrueHD.
