Default Boy the HD-A1 sure sucks at playing SD DVDs

You know it almost seems that every new standard definition DVD I get always skips on my HD-A1. This has happened on more then one occasion.

Anyone else having issues like this?

Not all of them but on more then one occasion. Brand new just opened out of the box. Eventually it will start freezing and skipping. It's doing it for the following films

- Seven Samurai - Criterion re-release
- Animal Crackers - Marx Brothers Silver Screen Collection
- Battleship Potemkin - This version
- The Exorcist - Original Version

all of these have started skipping right out of the box. I have even tried a different DVD player to make sure it wasn't the DVD and they work fine on another DVD player.

Do normal DVDs work? By that I mean titles that everyone has heard of as opposed to the titles that you listed that bearly anyone knows of.

Add The 36th Chamber of Shaolin Dragon Dynasty version to the list.

Brand new out of the box and about an hour and a half in it freezes

oh and btw it doesn't matter if the films are well known or not. What does that have to do with anything? The point is that I paid $400 for this DVD player. I shouldn't have to worry about movies skipping when they're brand new.
