Default 360 HD DVD add-on

Search turned up nothing so I'll start a thread. Are there FW updates for the add-on as there are for the stand alone players?

Any updates are available automatically on xbox live (if you're player needs one, you'll get prompted with an available update when you log on), but I don't know when the last update was available.

If you don't have an xbox 360, then I don't know how you would update it (other than bringing to a friend's house who has one).

All you need is an ethernet cable and just set up a free xbox Silver account and then you can download the update.

It also isnt so much a firmware update as it is the software to allow for it to work as far as I could tell. I only ever did it once and it did it the forst time I ever hooked my drive to a 360 and it did it every time I have hooked it to a 360 that has never had one attached so it does nothing to the drive only to the xbox itself as far as a software update to allow the xbox to play the films.

This is correct. I think I remember one after the new xbox experience update. (NXE)

Also if you use your drive with your PC and Power DVD 7.3 Ultra you will have to update it as well.

Yes, the add-on came with the install disc. Is there anyway to check what version is on the add-on? If not then I would presume it is not updateable?

The NXE would update it but if you don't have that the version on the disc will have to do. I say use it like that until you run into a problem.

Couldn't tell you as I never got the install disc near my 360s. I plugged the drive in and it auto updated something (it popped up and said "a update is needed install it now?") I don't know that I ever even took the install disc out of the box?

The update that's required for use with PowerDVD - Can it be downloaded and applied using a computer or can it only be done when connected to the Xbox through Live?
