Yeah the BH200 was the best bet for region free, but I can totally understand wanting to keep your old player.

The BH200 will be made profile 2.0 according to LG. Other updates it *MIGHT* get are internal DTS-HD HR/MA decoding (doubtful) and Netflix streaming capabilities.

LG still provides updates to its first generation combo/profile 1.0 Blu-Ray player.

If you'll have internet access during your visit you might want to check the NYC edition of craigslist.org. If you don't mind buying used discs you can sometimes find some good deals.

Here's the link:

Have a great trip!

I think this is wishful thinking as there are only two hybrid players out there but it should have the following

Multi region Blu ray capability with remote hack - (dvd multi region not important)
7.1 Analog outputs - with internally decoded DTS-MA
Profile 2.0 possiblity.

Does such a beast exist?

Des
OP, your best bet might be the Oppo, but it won't have HD DVD playback. The BH200 will never have 7.1 analog outputs. The BD300 won't have multichannel analog outs either.
