They no longer repair units as it's a replacement program now. Good luck, the A30 is a nice player. I have it on our guestroom now on a 37" 720p LCD and the picture quality is great for both HD DVD and SD upconversion.
Thats about as much as I'm willing to pay $100, also wouldn't hurt to knock off an extra $10/20..

I'm not too thrilled on the refurbs, would rather get like-new, gently used.. I've gotten an A2 refurb and the HDMI ended up not workin... luckily I didn't have to pay for it

You might check uBid, there were several HD-A30's listed. I believe the players are customer returns to stores that accepted returns when the format's demise was announced. The prices seem to end up between $60 and $80 shipped depending on whether or not the customer returned the remote and/or free discs in the box.

It appears to me that either the HD-A20 or HD-A30 are the best values for back ups for the long haul. The HD-A35 and HD-XA2 are selling for surprisingly high prices. I don't know whether the HD-A20 or HD-A30 is the better player, but that might be worth figuring out before you buy. The HD-A20 appears to be better player to me.

+1. the second gen's seem to be the more popular/reliable choice. i hear a lot of people say that they havent run into any playback issues whatsoever.

I've got a pristine condition HD-A20 for sale. Includes everything, even the box (not a refurb). It has played around 10-15 discs. Looking for $100 + minimal shipping.

I picked up the A30 from Amazon for $99 under their refurbished units. Works, great. For $99, I've got a back up for the 360 and a great upscaling DVD player for the wife. Win-Win.

Grab one from Amazon.
