Default Netflix Loses 810,000 Subscribers in Third Quarter of 2011

Raising prices and confusing people with Qwickster made them lose subscribers - who could have guessed?

It's easy to get ticked off and cancel your service, especially in the summer months. But the problem is here is more really really poor marketing by Netflix. Their service is still an excellent value, even with the raised prices. Barring any more stupid moves, the exodus should be over, and maybe Netflix can even negotiate some better rates now that it SHOULD be clear to studios and production companies that if they don't be reasonable with the price they charge Netflix, their customers won't put up with it.

We'll see what happens in the dead of winter when people can't be outside and are stuck inside. My guess is that some of them will come back.

Did they also cancel the game rentals?

who knows if they canceled anything or added anything. The company is just doing everything wrong right now.

That is rumored to be ditched when they decided to can the whole 'quickster' thing. However, Blockbuster offers it, if you are looking for a video rental service that does offer games.

I actually just signed up again recently to their streaming service for Mad Men and Sons of Anarchy seasons, I've never seen either of the show. I still use Blockbuster's instore rental pass, I paid $7.50 for the first month, $14.99 after that. It works better for me since I drive all day for work and want to rent games with a quick turn around.

<sound of world's smallest violin playing> - How can you feel sorry for them? I laughed my ass off when I read this article in the paper. It goes hand and hand with the recent thread on here about Qwikster.

I'm sure they can bounce back, this will serve as a lesson learned for what not to do with your company.

Count me as one of those 810,000. Netflix hasn't cornered the market on anything they offer. Where they separated themselves from the competition was their price, but now that's gone and other options are more attractive.
