Default Pulp Fiction HD DVD or Blu-ray?

I am a big fan of Pulp Fiction and it is a Miramax Studio production. I am just wondering what format Miramax will release their movies in. I'm not sure if they're owned by one of the big 8 movie studios or if I am incredible naive and they ARE one of the 8 then please don't flame!

Miramax = Miriam and Max Weinstein, Parents of Harvey.

Weinstein Co. who did Clerks II announced HD DVD support, but I don't know where Miramax lies officially.

A really long link. Really long.

Flaming should not happen now that I moved this thread to the general discussion area.

ok thanks for moving it to the right forum, sorry about that.

So i take it there's no answer to my question yet, as Miramax has not chosen a format yet?

Well, nothing is set in stone, but I found this little article that may help;

Quote:
The Weinstein’s and Walt Disney have finally agreed the terms of their divorce.

Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein are the co-chairmen of Disney's Miramax Films, which they founded and sold to the company. Now the pair are set to leave Disney and setup their own company.

The terms announced today mean Disney will keep Miramax and its catalogue of some 800 films. The Weinsteins will take away the Dimension film unit and later intend to merge it into their new company.
So it looks like the Weinsteins won't get Pulp Fiction under their belt for release. Of course this article was from when they first left, so I do not know if some things have been changed or not. I do know that with the Weinsteins HD-DVD did acquire Studio Canal film for HD release.

There are 3 production companies tagged to PF; A Band Apart, Jersey Films and Miramax Films.

I really don't know who owns the first two, but it sounds like Disney is holding on to Miramax.

*Edit* Ok just searched a bit deeper and found that Pulp Fiction was released under the Buena Vista Home Video studio, so that means no HD.

....That is until HD wins *Edit*

All Miramax and Dimension films are owned by Buena Vista (Disney) and, if they are released on hidef, they will be released on Blu-ray. Case in point, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.

You won't see Miramax on HD anytime soon....

Disney dictates....

Exception: Other region where Disney didn't hold the rights.... Example: Equilibrium was release by another studio in Japan.... Hence a HD version available.

To the best of my knowledge;

A Band Apart = Lawrence Bender's production company.
Jersey Films = Danny DeVito's production company?

It looks very good. I would put it in the top 10% of all HD DVDs I've watched.
