Default Best Buy and Circuit City OPEN ITEMS. HD DVD/Blu-ray players.

Does anyone else browse for open items at their Best Buy or Circuit City?

I always see 2 or 3 Blu-Ray players sitting on the shelf with the Big Yellow sticker on them stating open item. I wonder if this is an issue in other Cities. Please let me know.

No I've seen seen any OPEN ITEM Blu-ray or HD DVD players at my local Best Buy and Future Shop stores.

I look for open items, I always like to get a good deal, but I have to say I have yet to see any Blu-ray players as open items. Don't recall seeing any HD DVD player open items either.

It is ussually the Sony models and it does not give a discount but offers a $50 to $100 gift card.

I have seen reports of people buying open item HD-DVD players in other forums.

For example, this post:

Not the 1st time either.

What's the point?

I have seen the Sony BDP-S1 Blu-ray player in open box at my local Circuit City. Was considering it but the price was still too steep at a whoping $799. The regular price is $999 so its $200 off but is still more than I am willing to pay.

Our store (Circuit City) just sold our open box Panasonic BDP-1000 the other day for something like $550. It was the unit that was used as our first BD display, and has now been replaced by the new Panny player.

Other than that, no we've never had any open box High-Def players in our store yet.

My gosh - some one may have seen a blu-ray open player and start a thread assuming that there are many of them.

I have never seen any open HD DVD and / or Blu-ray players in my visits.
