I understand that the S300 blu-ray player from sony only has profile 1.0. Is there any way to upgrade to profile 1.1 without having an eternet connection? Should I upgrade to profile 1.1?

I'm not entirely sure what your question is. If you're asking whether you can get a firmware upgrade to make an S300 profile 1.1, then no. Profile 1.1 basically means that you can do picture-in-picture, which requires a second video decoder, which the S300 does not have.

If you're asking whether you should buy a profile 1.1 player instead of an S300, then that depends on whether or not you care about picture-in-picture.

I'm pretty sure you can't upgrade any Blu players, besides the PS3. The BH200 is said to be profile 2.0 Ready and or maybe the Samsung 5000 but not sure about the Sammy.

It will really only buy you PiP. It's a personal choice I guess

And before you settle on exactly what is best for you, you should probably read up a bit on what capabilities profile 2 makes available before deciding what model or if to buy at this time.
