Default When did you buy the TV you watch your HDM movies on?

Just curious as to how recent everyone's HDTV purchases are in comparison to the beginning of the format war. I bought my first HDTV (720p) last November, and upgraded to a 1080p last month. Haven't been able to notice much difference between the two, though it is nice knowing I have nearly the best commercial resolution available.

Bought mine same time as yours (720p) and will be picking up a 1080p set in the summer.

I bought my larger HDTV almost 2.5 years ago and it is a 1080i. I bought the other one 2 years ago and it also a 1080i.

Got mine I think 3 years ago its a Toshiba 36" 4:3 1081i CRT, works great but small. I keep looking at the bigger wide screens but with all the +s and -s I'm beginning to think they don't make the TV I want yet.

I got my first HDTV about 4 years ago, a 51" Magnovox 1080i CRT. Unfortunately I wasn't very educated about HD and didn't actually order HD cable until about 2 years ago. I was amazed by the difference but was dissappointed by the fact I got less than a dozen HD channles.

I got my 2nd HDTV about 1 1/2 years ago, an Optoma 720p DLP projector, I got it and my Toshiba HDA1 at the same time from Amazon. This was when I really started going HD crazy.

I got my 3rd HDTV about 8 months ago, a Samsung 56" 1080p DLP. I bought this a few months after I bought my PS3.

Of the 3 about 80% of my movie watching is on the projector. I've found that the size of the picture matters more than the resolution for me. The 1080p looks amazing and I lose a tiny bit of detail on the 720p but the 106" picture more than makes up for it.

I will probably upgrade to a 1080p projector in a year or two, once the prices get a little more reasonable.

February 7, 2006. It's a 32" Insignia CRT with no HDMI, but it does every resolution. 480i/p, 576i/p, 720p, 1080i/p. I thought it only did 1080i until I read the wikipedia article on 1080p and found out that some CRT moniters can do it... so I tried it and it worked. Yay.
