MOD NOTE:

The topic is not offering anything that's Smackdown worthy. Moved to appropriate forum.

Have a nice day.

Movies are so rarely great art that if we cannot appreciate great trash
we have very little reason to be interested in them.

I was going to start a thread like this. Why are all these stupid movies being released in HD formats? Norbit? Who cares?

How about the ones you listed above or some of the classics? Or just movies that would look awesome in hi-def?

I can think of a few:
the 3 LOTR movies
All 4 Die Hards
Hero
the Star Trek movies (at least the even ones)
Fight Club
Kill Bill
all the other Bond movies?

And funny enough, most of these releases would be Blu-ray only, including Treadstone's mentions. So, are they remastering these or what? I know a couple have been announced, but some of these should be on the top of the list to release I would think. Unless these are waiting for finalization of the standard?

I think it's because Norbit is closer to a day-and-date release than Braveheart is, and that takes a huge priority for some reason. Never mind that Braveheart is far more 'HD-worthy' than Norbit is.

That's my biggest problem with both HD formats right now. Too much crap, not enough good stuff.

I'm glad new movies(not norbit in particular) are coming out on hd.
I already own remastered versions of most 'classics' and can wait for them in hd .It's nice to buy something you don't already own.

One movie that I'm waiting to be released on HD from Warner is "The Wizard of Oz". I mean honestly, this gem was one of the first discs out of the gate with the launch of DVD, but nothing has been said about a HD release. You would think with the remastered collector's edition release in 2005, that Warner would be jumping at this.

I also want to see Sony release both Ghostbusters films. Again, another no brainer release. The first film is considered to be one of the greatest comedies ever made and the sequel is just as fun. I worry that we may not see this released until its 25th anniversary in 2009.

Finally, with the recent announcement of the Pixar's Shorts and Cars Blu-rays, I'm encouraged that their other films will make it soon. Ratatouille will likely see a release along side the DVD version, but the Toy Story films probably wont be released until Toy Story 3 is released to home video in 2010. A Bug's Life 10th Anniversary is next year so perhaps we'll see that soon.

Braveheart is definitely one of my favorites- hopefully within the year we will see it out in High Definition.

Braveheart is a great movie. I own it on Laserdisc if you can believe that. I love the huge cover jacket.

I want Aviator. I've seen that movie 45-55 times (literally). I guess it's coming some day here.

It took the largest letter righting campaign in dvd history to get them to release it on dvd. So good luck with that.
