I'm supporting both, but I like most HD DVD for the In Movie experience and the special features that brings Universal's movies.
Blu-Ray is a bad necessary for somes movies that I want like Casino Royale and a lot of Fox titles.

I support both formats and plan to pick up the Phillips (maybe the Sammy if the price keeps dropping) in the summer. I do this only because it seems like both formats will coexist. I was initially HD DVD, but BR finally seems to be on par. Only, I'm hesitant about the BR player because I want the BD-J capabilities, which might force me into a PS3 afterall.

Also, the films I want on BR are not released until May; and like you, I will buy the HD DVD first if available on both formats because I know that I will not be disappointed.

HD DVD: Universal, Warner, Paramount, etc.
Blu-ray: Disney/Buena Vista, Sony, and maybe Fox (they seem to be a mixed bag, so I'd rather rent their films first)

we have very little reason to be interested in them.

Being a 360 guy, I initially went with HD DVD. I never in a million years thought that Id buy a Blu Ray player...especially a PS3. I would go to the store...and pretend like there was NOTHING on Blu Ray that I wanted...and they had NO movies coming out that I could ever want. I finally stopped lying to myself. Blu Ray is an incredible, equal technology. And, there were PLENTY of films that I had to have. Quickly, my Blu Ray collection became on par with my HD DVD collection. All the arguing that goes on in these forums...and in many others...is ridiculous. They spout off the most insane statements. My personal favorite is when one guy claims to like many movies already out on his format...and many future movies his format is releasing...but doesnt see a SINGLE movie on the rival format that he likes. That is impossible.

ANYWAYS, yes, both formats are incredible, and I would never choose one over the other.

Not yet, but will once the PS3 releases here next month. I am very bored with this format war and having both consoles means I don't have to worry about exclusives.

Is anyone else neutral and enjoying it? I really just want serious NON BASHING feedback. I've already purchased my first BD Disc THE PRESTIGE and plan on buying a few more with in the next couple of weeks.

I'm planning my disc buying in this manner.

HD DVD:

Universal (Obviously)
Weinstein (Obviously)
Paramount
Warner Bros.

BLU RAY:

Fox (Obviously)
Disney (Obviously)
Sony (Obviously)

Looking forward to it all.

Cool, just keep in mind that the 2nd gen Samsung Blu-Ray player is coming soon, it should be the same price but it will probably have much less issues than the 1st gen one.

I have both and am very happy. I think both formats have pros and cons. The pros outweigh the cons though IMHO. I just love High Def. Time Warner where I live finally put the local CW channel in HD. Now I can watch Smallville in HD!!!!!

I bought a PS3 in November after being against both formats due to DRM. After discovering how much I liked the new video and sound I got a 360 + add on but found it less than satisfactory, so I got a Toshiba XA 2 and am pretty happy with it. Right now I mainly use it as an up-converting DVD player but plan to pick up titles like Children of Men and Eternal Sunshine.

My BD player is arriving tomorrow from Amazon. What do I need in order to have both the HD DVD Player and BD player hooked up at the same time? Is there something from Best Buy or Radio Shack that acts as a switch?
