Cool GTA: San Andreas > GTAIV

EDIT:
GTAIV Story and missions (variety and crazyness) better than San andreas

But everything else still applies.
I really dont see my self putting in 100+ hours into this one like San Andreas.
Score raised to 9.2/10
GTA:SA: 9.7/10

OKay, okay. Im gonna say it. GTAIV is nowhere near that perfect 10. Maybe an 8.8 or so,, but its far from a 10. That being said, GTA:SA is a 9.7 on my scale. So here we go:

San Andreas is soo much better than GTAIV. Im sure, the graphics look like crap in SA, but that makes it all the more fun. This time around you get more realistic graphics with more realistic everything! I dont want to jack a car to find out it doesnt turn corners as well as others, I dont want a car to flip if im chasing a guy at 100 mph. I WANT to shoot someone in the head and see it pop off with blood surting everywhere. I WANT to jack a car and be able to drift corner from corner. I want the cops to come at me and blow them up and see them go flying(instead they straight up stay in there place!)

The controls: GTAIV is completely sluggish..sure you get used to it, but SA was soo much more easier to control the character, let alone aiming, and driving. Like I said, I dont want to have to know statistics for how a car handles in a blow up, kill all kinda game.

The Story:
So far(City 3) the story is lame. As are the missions. GTA: SA had a much better story, and the missions were crazy. I mean you set up a Casino robbery, you have this crazy end mission, your fellow gang brothers betray you, (I cant remember the others but they were awesome). The whole gang thing was great too.

The Variety:
So GTAIV loses ALOT. You think on a new system they would add some crazy awesome stuff. NO, they strip it down and make it more "realistic!" I miss the gang wars, planes(Stunt Plane was amazing), oh and my favorite: Jetpack and Parachute!! Where the fuck are they. THey could have at least given the ability to customize your character on the size. Even the bikes,, no one uses them, but still where are they.
And where is the country place. Seriously! The Badlands were the shit! One of my favorite areas. San Andreas cities had so much variety, and yet every citie looks like the other, with poverty taken affect. The Badlands were so awesome! Even Las Vegas had its unique feel of the Desert City. With the Dam and everything. So you had Las Vegas, Desert, Badlands, San Francisco (inclines), and the ghetto. I mean they could have at least taken a tad from the other 90% of NY...the country!

Everything else:
The cheats are even lame. Basic shit. San Andeas had Aggressive Drivers(FROGGER!), PERFECT HANDLING(MY FAVORITE CHEAT), Punch= Expode, Cars Float when hit, Cars Fly(Used to pretend i was on a roller coaster dodging buildings bu a inch), Chaos mode, 6 Star Wanted Level, Increase Car Speed, Jump 10x higher, Pedestrians Riot(Give Gun cheat, then activate this one ), Asian Dudes with Katanas are rampid, Sand Storm.

With these cheats,, you basically have the whole Crackdown game in your GTA game if you wanted...
but wait, what was soo fun about Crackdown(ugh...collecting orbs), well thats cool, cause THERE ISNT ANYTHING TO COLLECT IN GTAIV!
San Andreas had Graffeti, Oysters(A pain), Unique Jumps, etc.
I havent even found one unique jump....compared to birds

And the weapons..not only is there anything funny, but theres only 2 sets, compared to the 3 of GTA:SA.

Oh, well, some ppeople may disagree, but seriously, GTA:SA was a redefinition of the series. It even had the first Black CHARACTER!! it should have been called GTAIV. the real GTAIV is just GTA:SA with less stuff in it, and an unwanted realistic approach on mayhem.
GTA: SA is better. period.
oh well, I just had to rant

There are things to collected in GTA 4. It's called shooting the birds/rats. There's a 100 of them.

Also, how do you know that's all the cheats? They could be waiting for time to pass to pass on the good ones. Not too mention the inevitable updates.

I got bored fairly quickly with GTA:SA after realizing that eating/working out and other overkill microtransactions were needed. It was a great title but to me GTA4 far exceeds GTA:SA in my book. All the small details, better visuals and sounds, story, etc to me just make it better.

I disagree with you completely on the controls, I think it handles much better. I disagree on the story...I think it's more interesting and grounded. I disagree on the better grapihics...I have no idea why anyone would think lesser graphics are more fun.

Now, I do agree that I liked the scope of SA, with the countryside and even gang wars and real estate gathering. I'm hoping as we progress, we'll see GTA again expand.

But I want it to incorporate the detail and control improvements of GTA4, with the scope of SA.

So do I think SA is better? Well, I'm still early in GTA4...but barring the scope of the world you can inhabit, I'd say no. GTA4 is a major improvement on everything...with only SA being "bigger" land wise being the thing I'd say I like more about it. I'd say airplanes sort of go with that though. I know I loved the country side.

But beyond that, GTA4 is absolutely better imo. It's a richer world, better looking, better handling, and I'm absolutely flabbergasted that you can sit there and say the AIM was better in SA. What are you, on crack? And didn't flip cars at 100 miles an hour in SA? Yeah, you could, and did.

200 pigeons I thought. I thought there were hidden packages to collect as well.

But anyways...so far I think this might be the first GTA game I might manage to make myself beat. The world is just so much more immersive than San Andreas, I can take the main character so much more seriously, the chases/missions just feel more intense to me. I still play the game only in small chunks, but it's the first GTA that's kept me coming back to see what happens next in the life of Niko.

San Andreas felt like it just "threw everything at the 'wall of cool' to see how much sticks..." whereas GTA4 seems to just be much more focused, and is a better game for it.

Well I liked the do everything nature of SA. But, all the improvements otherwise more than make up for it. I couldnt' sit at a corner in SA and watch what happens...cause little did. I can here. And my biggest gripe with SA...the god awful combat, is gone, which will make everything I do in GTA now fun, instead of something I have to get around.

But, I will agree, I loved the variety and scope of SA in terms of landscape. I do hope to see that return. There was a real feeling of exploration there that I just could not get enough of. But...I see why the trade off was made. Now, if they could take the aesthetic, detail, and quality of GTA4 and apply it to a world like SA...then that's going to be the game that I'd say is better than GTA4. But, like you...I think I might finish this one. I never did finish SA... I spent more time just driving around the countryside jumping off stuff.
