Default 45 NM Cell Chip may be a Reality in 2009

It's no secret that the Cell chip, currently bloated by 90- and 65-nanometer circuitry, is driving up the cost of PlayStation 3. Sony hopes to improve the chip's profitability by moving to 45-nanometer circuitry, in turn, driving down per-chip production costs. Commercial production of the 45-nanometer Cell is expected to begin by early 2009, which could indicate that a significant PS3 price drop (or perhaps, a slimmer model to compliment the even tinier new chip) would follow later in the year -- assuming that Blu-ray drive costs would have also dropped by then.

What a snobbish comment to make. I guess some people feel they don't have to pay more (PS3) for the same thing (360).

You do realize that the protection plan ends either when the time runs out or when you use it the first time, whichever occurs first, right?

I'm just checking to make sure you don't think you can just keep returning it over and over again whenever new models might come out.

same thing LMFAO, what ignorant comment.

only 20 gig HD or NONE at all.
NO HDDVD or BluRay --- Xbox 200$ add on
No HDMI
No Wifi --- another add on $100

So 20 gig HD Xbox - $400
Hd DVD add on 200
wifi - 100

Xbox with less featured then PS3 = $700

60gig HD PS3 = $600

Hdmi full 1080p capability, Priceless.

Last I checked, HD DVD wasn't necessary to play games on the Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 $399
PS3 $499-$599

Try again.
