Default 360 vs PS3 : what I chose and why.

A year ago I was at my local Target ready to by a 7th gen system. The game I was keen on playing at the time was Oblivion, so it was either 360 or ps3. Actually went it the store intent upon purchasing a ps3. Then I get to the counter and take a look at each systems available library of games (with near future releases in mind as well). It was at that point that I decided to get a core 360, a memory card and E.S. IV.
As it stood at the time the ps3 just didn't have enough of a library of games that interested me to justify a purchase at the time. Wired controllers didnít bother me and I didnít mind waiting to get a hdd so core was just fine for me.
Fast forward one year (about a couple weeks ago to be exact) I'm at a local independent game shop. Went in w/the intent of purchasing some kind of hd movie playback what have you (360 hd add on or ps3 ) So there I was looking at the ps3 library of games (again) and BD movies available. Though with a $600 budget for ďsilly boy crapĒ that weekend I wouldn't have much $$ left after purchasing even a used ps3. Add on top of that the fact that neither BD movie nor PS3 game content was blowing me away or justifying said system purchase. The BD movie library seems to be filled w/new Hollywood trash that as a film enthusiast Iím just not interested in. So I opted to get the 360 hd dvd add on and a stack of killer hd movies.
Now you can call me a 360/red pill fan boy all you like but the simple fact of the matter is that Iím really just a mindless zombie consumer looking for a good entertaining time...the 360 has and will most likely continue to give me my fix. I want the ps3 to do well...on paper itís a good system. But in practice it seems like a 3DO or at best a FF XIII player (if said game is exclusive that is).

Can't say you made the wrong decision. As a gamer it's really no contest ATM which console to buy. Especially right now with a flood of AA/AAA games that are currently on the 360.

But you will be missing out on some primo PS3 games next year. If you have the cash and aren't blinded by fanboy bias, PS360 is the way to go.

Which was my reasoning too, hence a 360 and PS3 sitting under my screen. But then there's the Wii - never has gaming been more fun when a bunch of mates come round. Mario Galaxy also is a must buy.

Wii360PS3 is the only option for the gamer that has to play all the best games

I'm a PSWii60 owner. But my Wii is collecting dust, I bought it out of curiosity, played Zelda for a bit then lost interest. Granted it's fun when family and friends come over but that's the only time it gets used.

Good buy. That is the exact reason why I bought an Xbox 360 and still don't even look at a PS3. I want great games and great exclusives and the Box has them all. I can't think of one single PS3 game that I want to play besides Unreal Tournament, which is coming to the Xbox 360 later. Metal Gear Solid just doesn't do it for me anymore, I am sick of seeing those Metal Gear Robots, talk about running it into the ground.

no fanboy bias what so ever. I just dont see the point in paying a premium price now for content that is not here yet. By the time the killer ps3 games drop (FF XIII omg!!!) ps3 will most likely have better price options either retail or used.

you made a good decision! For $200 vs $600 it's really a no brainer.

Plus I think the new Final Fantasy Wii Ware game looks awesome, I will be fine with that Lost Odyssey and Eternal Sonata.

So you ended up with a game console instead of a HD player? I would have look around and find a 60GB PS3 for $499. It's the same as a 360 with a HD-DVD add on.

He said he already had the 360 for a year so it's not the same price.
