Default PUBG surpasses 3 million players on Xbox One

Quote:
Since PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) launched on Xbox One through the Xbox Game Preview program, it’s been awesome to see the excitement and passion on display from the Xbox community. Whether you’re streaming in the HypeZone on Mixer or battling for a chicken dinner with your squad, players on Xbox are helping build and improve the game on console. Today, PUBG Corp. and Xbox are excited to share that through the end of 2017 the PUBG community on Xbox One has already grown to over three million players. Thank you for your incredible support!

I seem to recall a couple of posters on here claiming that PUBG on Xbox was not a big deal and would not attract a large audience.

As usual....they were wrong.
The weasl fail train is still steaming full speed ahead in 2018!!

I'm not surprised, I think it's the #1 game in gaming right now, or it was for awhile at the end of last year. I think its popularity may actually help advance gaming away from one twitch shooter after another, which I view as a positive change. In PUBG, there's no advantage for the guy who has learned the map thoroughly, and knows exactly what corridor to grenade spam, or what sniper's nest to hog with the dragunov -- that shit doesn't exist and I really like that.

Fortnite may have more - but then again it's free.

I don't think anyone said it would not attract a large audience.

Good for that team though. Sounds like they made a great game.

You're confusing PUBG with ARK.

It was a lot of fun, but persistent-world competitive multiplayer games are a bitch. You're either online and working and building up with a squad/tribe, or your shit's getting wrecked. But, the more effort you put in (the more you build/acquire), the more you have to lose, and the more time you need to spend building and acquiring to protect all that, which in turn means you have even more stuff to defend/protect, and so on. Those kinds of games turn into a total time sink and after awhile you have to decide to just give up on the time investment and move on.

It's probably why I like PUBG so much; it's refreshing coming off of a game like Ark because it's the exact opposite -- drop in, play a 30-40 minute round, then exit and go do other things.
