Yeah I can already do that, and travel (took about 2000 photos on my last trip). I mean more something like Afrika but with better scenery. Been playing Dear Esther again it makes me want to just stand around snapping screenshots.

In related news, IGN of all websites has posted an article about how both the sports broadcast and the sports training industries are now trialing VR in a bunch of different ways.

    SOURCE

I have to admit, as a nerd that grew up in the 80s, I find it almost disturbing that "jocks" in American football are actually using VR to improve their game. It feels almost like an atheist is reading the Bible at night for comfort and reassurance.

Those jocks have been playing madden on consoles and obsessing over fantasy football for a decade now. They've got a lot more nerd in them now than the jocks of the 80's.

I mean, that's really what it is, right? I don't know shit about sports, but when I've had people try to explain fantasy football or baseball, they sound just like people who play MTG.

Yup. The best part is that the nerd, nerds are so much better at it than the "jocks." Honestly, D&D Football would much more interesting with dragons.

I don't know what MTG is. Fantasy sports are fairly simple -- they're typically gambling. Instead of betting on a real team, you find several other people who will be "managers" in a fantasy league. You all pay your buy-in before the sport season begins, and then there is a draft. Each team drafts players from any team in the league. For example, in our HDD league, the draft will last until each manager has selected something like 13 players. Each week, your team will face the team of another manager. You will load your team up to include one quarterback, two runningbacks, two wide receivers, a flex (WR, RB or TE), a tight end, a defense and a kicker. The players in those positions will individually score points for you based upon how they perform in their real world games that weekend (for example, if Aaron Rogers throws a touchdown in real life, you might get 5 points for your fantasy team; and when Jay Cutler fumbles, you lose 3 points). The manager in each matchup with the most total points wins their matchup for that weekend.

You're basically just creating a team of players from around the league and fielding it against a different manager each week (and you can trade etc to help in the event of injuries or underperformance). At the end of the season, those with the best records go to the playoffs, and receive cash payouts from the entry fees.
