Default Xbox Director Calls out Sony's new low end console

HMMM. Same rumor Game Informer posted on the "Loose Talk" section:

http://kotaku.com/gaming/addicts/mic...ear-282303.php

If this happens, they'd have another foot in mouth.

Well he pretty much described how they'd lower the cost. I think it'd be shoddy after what they've already stated.

But would also be a good move for them. They need to get that bluray player cheaper. Bottom line.

the whole removing the back compatibility thing in my opinion will never happen, with the new 60 sku, its software, which is cheap, and just updates, their talking out of their ass on that part

if there is a 399 sku i def see them removing wifi and card readers and a lesser hd, would be perfect for some.

Okay the image isn't coming up, He claims there is a bit of expensive hardware or chip that still exists in the new 80 gig that will be removed from the 40 gig. I suppose we'll find out in november.

why do people think deceasing 20 gigs saves them more then $2-4 bucks per console.
I would bet that this christmas the remaining 60 gigs will get a another price cut. The 80 gigs will drop the game and be $499 if not lower.
I will bet $100 that once the limited edition 80 gigs drops the game it will retail for 499. So at this time the 60 gigs will be $450 (clearance) while the 80 will be $499. Sony cant possibly redo the 20 gig fiasco. Removing card readers and 20 gigs difference and even limiting ps3 bC to 0% is the dumbest strategy.
And doing all this will not cover the cost of have seperate assembly lines and confusing the consumer.
I would wonder if sony made a PS3 without a hard drive like $20-30 bucks so people could put in a monster hard drive. But it would have to crealy labled and that clerks will make sure that people know what they are doing.

MS said this as a very low tactic saying your competitor is getting a price drop when they arnt so that a rumor is floating around and people waiting for a price drop so people are not buy the PS3 when the rumors are about.

I find that funny removing a small piece of hardware and changing 80 to 40 gigs( 80 gigs are mass produced so way cheaper per a gig)
To change the design around like that sounds impossible with out redoing a large portion of hardware.

The new 80 GB units that have the EE removed still have the PS2 GS chip in them. I find it unlikely that they'd remove the GS chip though, since this would require a new production line and wouldn't result in any manufacturing savings. Removing the WiFi and card readers I do find plausible, this would just be the 20 GB model again which is still manufactured for all markets except NA.
