I've had a console since launch and I've had no problems.

I'd rather go through a defective console which has good games, than a perfect console (which the PS3 isnt) which has no games.

While there are many people who have no problems, there is still a significant percentage of people with multiple sets of broken consoles. This still presents a problem, even if it were only a few people (which it isnt...).

I've had 1 console, and it's a launch unit. However, the 360 is notorious for crapping out on gamers. Not just the launch batch, but subsequent batches.

There's a 39 page thread (50 posts per-page) on NeoGAF's forums dedicated to 360's dying on people. MS has had inquiry's by the media onto this and they've constantly denied that this is "out of the norm".

A single console dying isn't rare, but when people report being on their 3rd, 4th and even 5th unit... it's not normal at the least.

It doesn't help that MS customer service when it comes to hardware problems is sub-par.

I'm lucky and grateful to be on my one and only launch unit, but the issue with 360's dying is by no means rare, uncommon and unfounded.

Unlike PS3 owners, I would rather play games.

I, too, have a launch system, and have never had a single problem with mine.

People need to learn how to take care of their systems.

Yeah, 7 dead consoles in less than a year has very little to do with "taking care of your system".

That's an argument and excuse that works the first or 2nd time... beyond that? It's not the owner's fault.

I've never once in the 12-11 year's that PS1 and PS2 have been out seen someone claim they were on their 7th PS1 or PS2 - at the most 1 or 2, and Sony got a hell of a lot of flack for having "shoddy hardware".

I laughed so hard while reading this. If you honestly believe that someone that has had seven consoles die on him isn't his fault, you need to take off your Sony sunglasses. Game consoles aren't made to abuse, this person has obviously abused their consoles. Sorry, but no one is that un-lucky to have seven of the game game console die on them (in less than a year no less). It just doesn't happen.

I always take care of my consoles, I currently keep my Xbox 360 on a shelf by itself, and if I decide to get a PS3 for Blu-ray, it will get a shelf by itself too. In all my years of gaming, I have only had one system (PS2) crap out on me. And it didn't really crap out on me, I just got disc read errors for regular cd's, and some PS2 games.
