Kind of a bummer. I bought FFXV in the hopes to tackle it soon and was looking forward to some of the DLC additions. Shame.

I did get the recent update to World of Final Fantasy. Which, might be my favorite Final Fantasy since IX. I didn't even really like IX, but I didn't hate it either. It just felt tired.

Crossing my fingers for a sale on FFXII this winter. Not that I like that game much either...but maybe it'll be better the second go around. I didn't get too far on the PS2 original because of "standards." I didn't like the battle system. However, a decade+ of compromise might make it easier to swallow these days.

Are you planning to keep this job in that spot long term, or using it as a stepping stone to something you can do back on the East Coast?

Sony already has an edge on the market anyway. It's probably a bad move considering 4K/Ultra-HD is up and rising and MS has shown commitment early in the game.
Many of these shows, the admission fees are astronomical and the benefits are very low for what they pay out so I sort of see what Sony is trying to do. I would laugh if they fall on their faces for that though.

Not sure yet. There's money in fire currently. So, in terms of stability...I kind of have it. Also, I feel like I have purpose. Which, I didn't feel when I was in film. Assignments are something I finally got to go do this year. Liked it a lot. Actually, very similar to working on a film. The whole organization of it all is incredibly similar. I just don't fully understand "fire" and it's been a huge learning experience. It's interesting to here "hot takes" from your friends and things about what you do. I don't talk much about it publicly. Treat it the same as film. Loose lips...yada yada.

Though, it's nice to not have to be so quiet about Spacey anymore.

Secondly, I have my fun when I go to places with people. HAHAHA. So, it's not all bad. I don't look 34, which helps. I'm not going to settle with anything...and I prefer to just ride the wave. No assumptions, just wishes. Keeps me sane while all my friends get married and have kids. :/

When I was in film school, I talked a bit about VR films. How I think as a platform for experiences, that it's a pretty good deal. That I think in order to evolve storytelling some semblance of control should be given to the viewer. The problem with VR, is that it's hard to create a "4D" experience with it currently. That sensation that you're actually there smelling and feeling the world around you. It's really only good for a "1D"experience. Perspective. Everything else has an element of "detachment." So, you cannot truly create an experience like say in, Strange Days. It won't transfer touch nor, would you feel like you're actually that person.

Still, you could create really intense showcases for terror, erotic, nostalgia, wonder and so on. However, it'll be limited until other advancements come. And, most of these advancements will come from the erotic world. Though, I heard Valve might be making an accessory or something with tactile feedback. So, maybe not all advancements will come from the Porn Industry.

We think Social Media is addicting? Wait until one can simply shake off this mortal coil and go balls deep into a reality of pure imagination. The types of people this will spawn will be of which are even sadder than some of the ones you see at Cons. I do think this will fuck human advancement but that's a whole other topic on what I find sad.

As, Patrice O'Neal said, "I'll take his five, and his five, and that guy's five too."

Outside of the first two Tomb Raider games in this recent reboot (haven't played Shadow yet, but I'll probably like it), I haven't had a Square game I liked since probably 2000-ish? Parasite Eve II and Vagrant Story - the end of that PSOne era.

*Also, I haven't played DragonQuest XI yet.
I know how you feel. Sometimes I wonder how they're still around. However, when you take a closer look at their releases, then it starts to make perfect sense how they've been profitable all this time. They are literally the kings of milking a franchise for all its worth (Dragon Quest, Mana series, Final Fantasy etc.) and are extremely precise with how they repackage and release their classic titles on various platforms. They always know how to suppress their die hard fans' appetites just enough, while still keeping them hungry for the big releases.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 came out, first home console release in a decade, and it has basically the same visuals as the original from 2008. Same gameplay, basically, same format, and even takes place at the same time.

On the one hand, the original was sweet and unique. On the other hand, THIS is what it feels like when people pander and donít try to risk anything creatively. We will once I get through the whole game, but first impressions are of disappointment.

As for E3, this sucks. People, including on here, completely lose their mind and all ability to use logic around E3. However, the intrigue and leaks and hype are still fun. Sonyís depriving the fan base of one of the joys of following this silly industry.
