Default Mass Effect 2: Spoiler discussion, including endgame spoilers!

I figured I would make a thread where those of us who have beaten it can talk freely and not ruin anyone's game. What did you think of the ending?

Here is a guide for The suicide mission that I have to get the "No one gets left behind" achievement.

-Be sure to do missions with EACH character, and rotate often!
-BEFORE doing the IFF mission, upgrade EVERYTHING. and yes, I mean EVERYTHING. All ship and weapon upgrades. Then stock up on some more minerals, because Legion will have his own custom upgrade.
-After getting the reaper IFF activate Legion. After the initial conversation, turn around and talk to him again and get his loyalty mission. Complete it. You may have time for another quest or planet scanning.
-Do not Side with either Tali or Legion. Do the Paragon answer to keep their loyalty.
-The crew will then be abducted.
-As soon as your shepard again go through the Omega 4 relay (If you go as soon as you can, all crew members will live. if not, depending on how long you take, some will die. If you take forever all but Chakwas will die.
-For tech specialist pick Legion or Tali.
-Squad commander one, pick Garrus.
Squad Commander 2, pick Garrus again.
-For Biotic pick Samara
-For escort, anyone with loyalty will live.
-For the final battle, I picked Grunt and Jack, but pick anyone you want. I haven't had problems with this yet.

My choices:

So far I saved the Rachni in ME1 so they pledged support, kept the Genophage cure with Morlin to probably get a Krogan Army ready in ME3, and saved the Geth for Legions quest so i'll likely have Geth aid as well.

Turned down Ceberus at the end and blew up the station but they'll help in ME3 for the sake of humanity i'm sure.

I'm going to replay a "bit" of ME1 and bone Liara real quick and beat it, I should have a save before Virmire to do it. That way that trickles down to ME3, i'm going to do my "Perfect" insanity run on ME2 then after that.

That's how I've gone so far as well, and I saved the council at the end of the first game so I'm sure they'll be there too.

Felt good to tell The Illusive Man to suck it.

I kept everyone alive during the finale of 2 so for me the ending was "Hurray! We went into hell and came out alive as heroes!". To which the game replied: "Oh yeah, well here's a fleet of Reapers coming for that ass.".

I think it's going to take years for the reapers to reach you since they don't have a relay to use with no citadel warp activation.

This would allow a few things to happen in ME3, Liara would have the "years" it takes for her to track down the shadow broaker, which is probably the Illusive man lol.

And years will have passed that will make it possible to cure the genophage if you're so inclined, that way you have a krogan army ready to kick ass.

Plus you know we'll get ME2 DLC packs, I just hope they're decent this time. Looks like the ceberus network is prime for DLC delivery.

Bioware says that they have two years of DLC planned. I hope we get a shit ton of it too. I'm almost done with everything in the current game.

I destroyed the base, and told TIM "You are on my team now. Deal with it."

Looks like that's pretty much the standard route. I made all the same choices. Ended up with Thane dying on my trip. I'd guessed that anyone crawling through the ducts would die and figured that he didn't have long to live anyway.

For what it's worth, Jack works fine as the biotic too.

I don't think Thane's much of a tech so he probably didn't have a good chance to survive, i'd send Legion or Tali.

Might want to try that next time for your ME3 save to use. Well if you're like me you can't stand to lose anyone.

Yeah, I have a save from right before the final mission I'll redo to get everyone through alive. Then I think I'm going to have play through ME1 + ME2 again just to see how badly I can mess everything up for ME3. Kill Wrex, let the council die, finish off the Rachni, destroy the cure data, wipe out the heretics, and get my entire team killed.

I really am worried that destroying the base may be the wrong decision as far as getting the best ME3 ending. I'd be disappointed if Bioware made that available from always picking the easy feel good route. Who's tried that option to see what happens in this game?

PS They're quite evil with Tali. I picked her for romance just out of curiosity as to what their race actually looks like. They show the mask being removed, but don't actually show you any of what her face looks like.

I picture the avatar things for some reason lol.

I was pretty pumped to hear they were behind the Rachni war by indoctrinating their "song", now the Geth that's going to be a major issue in ME3 I think.

They were manipulated by the reapers but after they took over the Tali's homeworld.

I'm guessing a peace agreement / war may be another central point in ME3 with them... in fact i'd bet most of ME3 is pretty much like Dragon Age.

Shepard riding around the galaxy saying hey stop killing each other and fight the reapers.

As far as not destroying the base, I think that would just move Ceberus in a power play position and probably make you lose others support in ME3 in turn weakening you.

Probably a damned if you do situation in some regard that balances the choice but with a different twist.

I too am going to play ME1 in a totally different way to screw some stuff up

Yeah, I was pushing the Quarians to make peace with the Geth during the trial mission. Hopefully they'll listen.
