Default Rumor: 'Tecmo Bowl Throwback' coming to XBLA, PSN

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/01/13/ru...g-to-xbla-psn/

Quote:
A trusted source (the same who provided us with early knowledge of Lucidity and NBA2K10 Draft Combine) has just informed Joystiq that Tecmo's planned Tecmo Bowl update for XBLA is also coming to PSN. Dubbed "Tecmo Bowl Throwback," the game is a remake of the NES classic, complete with HD graphics and an updated soundtrack -- it also retains the original plays and team stats. And for those of you who fear the fancy-schmancy graphics of high-def games, Tecmo is also including an option to play Tecmo Bowl in its original state. There's even team customization, ensuring your lifelong dream of creating a horribly out-of-shape and uncompetitive Joystiq team is a real possibility.

While we were hungry for more news, that's all our source could provide. But, hey, if you're in the know and want to drop some details in our lap, we would certainly appreciate it. Anonymity assured!

I'd like this, if not for anything else but nostalgia's sake.

Oh ffs. I know it won't happen but could we get some of these games for dual play?! I mean on PS3 and PSP. I'm referring to PSN/XBLA product in general. I'm not talking remote play either. I'm talking on the memory stick.
I mean if Sony wants to at least get more interest up for the download only idea for PSP that would get a lot of people's attention.
Theorhetically can't you do that? Create code that would scale down in demands according to it being on the PSP? I mean is there no way to harmonize the PSP and PS3 together to do something like that? Or do Sony's programming tools not allow something like that? I mean I think it's idiotic NOT to harmonize PSN with the PSP and may help sell more PSP's in general, even if it wouldn't be the Go.

Alright, give me some of that 4 total plays to choose from action. I remember always picking the sweep play with the Raiders, Bo Jackson would run over everyone.

Tecmo's reboot of the console classic Tecmo Bowl arrives on Xbox Live on April 28 for 800 Microsoft Points, but there's no word yet on when PlayStation owners get in on the fun.

A news release from Tecmo said only "A release on PlayStation Network will soon follow."

Throwback will deliver an old-school 2D mode and an updated 3D presentation whose gameplay matches what you remember from the original Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Though the game has no NFL or NFL Players' Association licensing, its roster will more or less match the performers from the 1991 game, just under different names. It also includes online multiplayer and a stupefyingly easy achievement set. No word if the halftime show still features cheerleader upskirts, though.

800 Microsoft points seems kind of steep. Is it going to have a season or playoff mode, or is it just going to be single game multiplayer?
