Default Star Trek, Transformers 2 Xbox 360 UK bundles

Star Trek, Transformers 2 Xbox 360 bundles on the way to the UK
by Nicholas Deleon on November 2, 2009

Thereís two new Xbox 360 bundles coming your way, UK. To mark the arrival of Transformers 2 and Star Trek to DVD (and Blu-ray), Gem and Paramount pictures have put together these blurry bundles.

The bundles are largely identical, and both include an Xbox 360 Elite, an extra controller, and the movie on a USB drive. No DVD for you, friends.

Paramount hasnít said whether or not these bundles will be released outside of the UK.

And if you do live in the UK, keep your eyes peeled because the release date hasnít been revealed, nor has the the price.

Iíve seen neither movie, but Iím going to assume Star Trek is better, just because Transformers 2 is, by all accounts, garbage.

Very interesting. Looks like MS is pushing this digital content further. The movies officially on a USB is a first as far as I know

Kinda cool. But perception is that 360 is a game machine... would take a hell of a PR campaign to sway perception of a console.

I wonder if games will start releasing on USB to get around DVD size constraints.

Are the movies SD, HD, or fake HD? If HD, are they 1080p with lossless? And what sort of DLC is there for a movie? Do you have to pay to get the extras that will be on the disc versions?

This is just really weird. Looks like a fail boat to me.

Seems like a dumb idea. The USB drive would have to be at least 16GB for it to make any sense and a 16GB flash drive has got to be more expensive than two DVD discs.

I wonder what this USB thing is going to be. SD would be 2gb minimum, HD a good 7gb - 12gb (depending on PQ and AQ) for the movie itself with no extras. Also isn't the Xbox limited to reading 4gb files (Fat 32) for external memory?

Yeah, interesting. I'd like to know the movie quality and size of the USB stick.

Surprised they just didn't dump it to the Elite hard drive or include the DVD.

There's no way it's got lossless rm... The 360 only supports DD 5.1
